I hate the College bus.

October 28, 2008 · No Comments

Ok, so every morning, I have to get up at 6, catch the 7am train into Edinburgh and then catch a bus to my college (which is a good long distence away outside the city).

Ok, now on the bus is constantly caught in traffic. A minor inconvienience for most, but a damn right nuesence for me as my class 9/10 times are out of the classroom doing pratical, meaning I’m running around the campus trying to find them!

Now, due to this I’ve decided to try the train/bike combo as a route to college. Scotrail has allway been good to cyclists and it’s not a long cycle from the local station to the college.

Webcomics pwn everything!

October 21, 2008 · No Comments

I must confess, I love webcomics.

Yes I perfer webcomics to normal comics, the internet provides a platform for epic nutjobs and epic gueniuses to show of their doodles and or comics. So, what are my favorite comics?

El Goonish Shive

OK, this is an incresingly odd comic. It’s follows the lives of a group of teenagers through some very odd senarios. The main characters are an Androgynous Mad scientist called Tedd, his girlfriend Grace (who is a Human, Alien, Squirrel hybrid), his friend Elliot, Elliot’s Female double Ellen, Ellen’s girlfriend Nanase (who is a sorceress), a feminist called Susan, Elliot’s girlfriend Sarah and Nanase’s Gay friend Justin.

I know it seems a complicated comic, but it is very, very fun to read. Best advice when starting off, read the past comics.

Questionable content

OK, Imagine friends, but 100% better with the added addition of a small robot and a naive iPod. This comic is less odd than EGS, but it is entertaining to read.

XKCD

Like your comics geeky?

XKCD has no one storyline, no main characters, but is OH SO GEEKY! Lots of science, computer and gaming related jokes! A great comic for the geek in all of us.

Cyanide and happiness

Not a comic for the faint hearted, but 9/10 gross out jokes are garenteed to make you giggle. Like XKCD, it has no storyline, no main characters, but rules none the less.

I’m not dead! I think I’ll go for a walk!

October 20, 2008 · No Comments

Hey there…

As one iJustine said…

So yeah. I’ve started college studying horticulture and well, my college life, real life and net life are battling to the death for supremicy!

I’ve not done much really, college is OK, I have a new cat called Lucy (A sweet little snowball of a cat) and she’s settling down with Dexter (my other cat).

Lucy relaxing on my carpet!

Lucy relaxing on my carpet!

So yeah, Blogging is taking a back seat to a lot of stuff at the moment, I’ll try to update more regularly!

Chrome: Safari and Firefox’s secret love-child

September 3, 2008 · No Comments

One morning, my dad said to me ‘Have you heard of Chrome? It’s google’s new web browser, and it’s open source!’

Google? Making a web browser? Interesting. That night I downloaded it when it was finally released.

Chrome’s interface has done away with the top menu bar and even has it’s it’s own titlebar. It’s basic controls (page navigation and address bars) and the space for tabs look similar to opera’s, it’s speed and ease of use is akin to that of firefox. It’s a nice usable web browser.

Let’s put it this way, it may be hype, and I feel this browser has potential for that ‘no bells no whistles’ niche filled by hackers and Internet newbs.

Anorack: Check, Notepad with train numbers: Check…

August 27, 2008 · No Comments

Oh my gosh people. I have just realised I have hit a new level of geekiness. I have merged two modes of transport on openttd. Motorway and Railway!

OK, I should explain. Openttd is a transport tycoon clone. It’s geeky and fun in equal mesure. You can build roads, railways, airways, canals and tramways to link up towns, cities, villages and industries. It’s geeky to the extreme, but oh so fun.

Anyway there’s people who go over the top with the game and create BEHEMOTHS of networks over what is possabily a good amount of their time. Here is an example (not mine)…

Look, I get out, I wont go to this extreme.

Look, I get out, I won't go to this extreme. Don't worry!

Yes, so you wanna see the maglev motorway? OK!

Yes that is windows, my normal PC is fucked….forgive me Stallman!

I haven’t blogged for a while.

August 20, 2008 · No Comments

So, I haven’t posted for a while. BAD SHEDTROLL! BAD! I really wish I could become a ‘full time’ blogger (you know the type that blogs on the move.

Let me summerise my life up to now.

I celebrated the end of summer with a trip into Glasgow. I went by coach, which doesn’t sound too exiting, TILL YOU LEARN IT HAD WIFI! The connection was sadly crap, so I didn’t get much done.

I’ve seen two awesome shows at the stand, one was Susan Collman, the other was Andy Zaltzman. Both were pwnage!

I’m trying to get into oatridge college to do horticulture. I have found a cycle route there (via Uphall station) and it was easier said than done.

That’s my life really, I really hope I’ll blog more!!!!

Postcard time!

July 16, 2008 · 1 Comment

Greetings from the middle of Nowhere (Also known as Morven).

I’m Currently in Fort William (with a new hat), but I’m staying in a small hamlet with no shop, where the only public transport is a ferry every Monday and friday to Tobermory and the nearest shop is 10 miles away (better than it sounds).

I’ve been on Mull (conveniently across the sound from where I’m staying. Tobermory has internet and a chip shop. Lochaline (the nearest town) has a ferry over to mull, a shop and a small pub. And the hamlet has some nice walks.

Anyway, got to go.

See y’all back in Edinburgh.
